Jewellery Auction Department

  Antique & Modern Jewellery

The Antique & Modern Jewellery auctions take place approximately every six weeks.

These jewellery auctions consist of around 700-900 lots of both contemporary jewellery, antique jewellery and period jewellery. Diamond and gem set jewellery, gold chain, gold bracelets including charm bracelets, cameos, designer jewellery,  loose and polished gemstones and many other unique pieces are often featured. Pieces by makers such as Cartier, Kutchinsky, Bulgari,and more contemporary designers such as Andrew Grima may also appear in these auctions.

Each Antique & Modern Jewellery auction has an illustrated colour catalogue to provide details of each item in the sale. You can also find a virtual catalogue of these sales on our website. The fully illustrated catalogue can also be viewed online with condition reports. Live bidding for these auctions is available from www.invaluable.com/fellows.

The department consists of jewellery valuers who can provide specialised assistance and a high level of market knowledge for both sellers and buyers. Heather Bailey heads the department with Claire Marsh FGA DGA and Georgina Kettle DGA as full time valuers. The department holds valuation days every Wednesday from 12pm-4pm but are also able to provide auction valuations during the week for those visiting offices in the Jewellery Quarter, or sending in details by email or via the website. For probate and insurance valuations, it is advisable to call prior to your visit for information on charges etc.

Secondhand Jewellery & Watches

The Secondhand Jewellery & Watch auctions occur fortnightly and principally consist of leading brand name watches, gold, diamond and gem set Jewellery; a proportion of these sales are offered on behalf of Pawnbrokers.

The number of lots in these auctions is approximately 3000-4000 and items include gold chains, gold bracelets, gold pendants, diamond rings and contemporary watches such as Omega, Brietling, Rolex, Longines and Cartier.

Each auction has a part illustrated catalogue and the catalogue can also be viewed online. Fellows aim to fully illustrate the sales online.

The Secondhand Jewellery & Watch auctions are coordinated by Karen Southam DGA with support from the Antique and Modern Jewellery Valuers and the Watch Department.

Costume & Silver Jewellery & Novelties

Costume  The Costume & Silver Jewellery & Novelties auctions take place four times a year.

The auctions include a variety of items from early 18th and 19th century paste jewellery through to 'diamante', marcasite, enamel, amber, jet and other items of period Jewellery. These sales also feature pieces by designers and companies such as Georg Jensen, David Andersen, Charles Horner, Murle Bennett, Liberty etc. There is also a large amount of assorted costume and fashion jewellery available to buy in large bag lots.

The specialist sections within this catalogue include pieces of memorial and sentimental jewellery, Scottish jewellery and novelty items such as compacts, buckles, purses, pens, etc.

Each auction includes approximately 300-500 lots. A full colour, illustrated catalogue is available prior to the auction and lots can also be viewed online with images and condition reports for the majority of items.
