TWENTIETH CENTURY RUSSIAN POCKET WATCH TO GO UNDER THE HAMMER
29th June 2009

An early twentieth century hunter pocket watch by Pavel Bure of Le Locle is a particular highlight in Fellows & Sons Wrist & Pocket Watch auction.

Pavel Bure became the official watchmaker of the Russian Court, with this watch carrying the Russian engraving "Pavel Bure, Supplier to His Majesty". The case front is decorated with the coat of arms of Imperial Russia as it appeared in 1915; a double-headed eagle and a mounted figure slaying a serpent or dragon. The arms of Moscow are in the centre of the double-headed eagle, whilst the wings of the eagle bear the arms of various cities and provinces.

The pocket watch will be auctioned together with an associated Pass and Identification Card which was issued by the British Military Mission, South Russia, dated 13 May 1920. The total lot has been valued at £600 - £900.

The auction contains additional pocket watches, as well as a wide range of brand name wrist watches including a 1960s Breitling Navitimer 806 chronograph strap watch.

All items will feature in the Wrist & Pocket Watch auction on Monday 6 July to be held at Fellows & Sons auction rooms in Augusta Street, Birmingham.

The auction contains over 500 lots and all items can be viewed on the website at www.fellows.co.uk.
