Probate Valuation

Probate

A valuation for probate usually follows the death of the owner of valuables that need to be valued for legal purposes.

The period after a close friend or relative's death can be difficult for everyone involved. We understand that a probate valuation might be the last thing on your mind, but it is important because it will help:

  • enable HM Revenue and Customs to establish the correct amount of inheritance tax payable, if any
  • calculate any capital gains on sales made by the executor
  • establish the value of any assets to be inherited as specified in the will. This is important for the beneficiary's capital gains tax calculations in the future.

We know that a probate valuation can be distressing and we are dedicated in providing a probate valuation service that is sensitive to this and we will guide you through this difficult process so that it is completed swiftly and with ease.

Our full probate service includes:

  • A written probate valuation
  • Travel to any location
  • House clearance
  • Advise executors on which items to place in safe custody to avoid theft from unoccupied properties
  • Removal and delivery of bequeathed items
  • Arrange for  items to be offered at the next appropriate auction
  • Disposal of items unsalable by law
  • Leave the property clean and tidy
