Placing Bids at Fellows and Sons
Guide to placing Bids
Placing Bids at Fellows and Sons Auctioneers
All purchases whether in the salesroom or by electronic facilities are subject to Buyer’s Premium on top of the Hammer Price. Lots marked with an asterisk (*) in the catalogue or on the web site attract a further 17.5% VAT.
On the first £50,000 (of any individual lot) of the hammer price the buyer shall pay the hammer price together with a premium thereon 20.57% (inclusive of VAT).
Attending the Auction
If you are attending the auction, we ask you to register with our Reception team prior to the auction and they will issue you with a Paddle (a piece of card with a unique number for you for that particular sale). If you are successful with your bids, the Auctioneer will ask you for your number and all you have to do is hold it in the air so that he can read the number. When you have finished buying you can present your Paddle at the Accounts Office and they will run off your bill.
If you are unable to attend the Auction there are a variety of ways to leave bids with us:
Placing Bids at the Fellows and Sons Showroom
Once you have viewed the items on display in the saleroom and made up your mind how much you want to bid, you can leave a Commission Bid with a member of staff. You will find a Bidding Form printed in the back of your paper catalogue, and there are spare forms on display in the salerooms. If you need any advice on estimates or how to place a bid, please ask a member of staff. There is no extra charge for this service.
Placing Bids by Telephone
If you have received a catalogue or viewed an auction online, and want to leave a bid you can dictate your bids to a member of staff over the phone. Please try to submit these bids the day before the auction. There is no extra charge for this service.
Placing Bids Online
If you have viewed the catalogue online, you can submit your bids as you view each lot. The web site will automatically provide you with a list of the bids which you have left. We do not provide acknowledgement of receipt of these bids unless specifically requested. There is no extra charge for this service but you will need to register on the web site for premium content access.
At The Saleroom.com
We have a ‘live bidding’ facility for our sales of Antique and Modern Jewellery, Silver, Plated Ware, Coins and Medals, and Wrist and Pocket Watches. This facility is provided by the 'saleroom.com' (www.the-saleroom.com) and you can register on their web site to take part in the auction. There is a slightly increased rate of Buyer’s Premium for the use of this service
