A large and impressive Chinese porcelain wucai fish vase. Of broad shouldered form, the short neck with lipped rim, painted and enamelled with large and small golden carp, their elongated bodies in yellowish-orange, the scales, barbels, lateral and dorsal fins all finely outlined and detailed, amidst rising lotus blossoms with bright yellow and iron-red petals and their green pads, encompassed by feathery and spiky undulating grasses, all between a collar of petal lappets below the neck, and a band of leaf tips issuing from the base, the wedge-shaped footring fired orange-brown and enclosing a borderless six-character mark (pseudo Jiajing) in underglaze blue, 15.5" diameter x 14" high, (39cm x 36cm)

Purchasing information-
Some enamel losses, especially around shoulder. Old potting flaw/crater to collar. Numerous kiln pock marks. Potting lines visible through glaze. Slight firing crack noticeable to internal circumference. Rubbing/fading to some colours. Otherwise structurally sound.
