In the Spotlight: Rare Five-Dial Carriage Clock by Parisian Clockmaker, Margaine

On Monday 2nd April Fellows will auction a selection of over 160 English & Continental Clocks

One particular item of note is the extremely rare five-dial carriage clock by Parisian clockmaker, Margaine. With uniformly synchronised dials on all four sides and roof of the case, Fellows specialists conclude this was built as an exhibition piece to demonstrate Margaine’s superior technical ability.

Although multi-dialled clocks are not uncommon, no other five-dial design is known to be referenced in literature or have been sold at auction within the last ten years. To reflect this scarcity the clock has an estimate of £12,000 - £18,000 and is featured as Lot 616.
