Unique Engagement Rings

Are you thinking of getting engaged but not sure what ring to get? Diamonds are the traditional choice but that’s not to say they’re the only choice!

Picking out an engagement ring for your future wife can be… well, difficult. Diamond rings are the traditional choice, but that’s not to say that they’re the only choice.  Many gorgeous modern engagement rings feature all sorts of colourful gems, as many reject the traditional brilliant cut single-stone diamond and opt for something a little more unique. Here are some of the best on offer at Fellows over the next month, as featured in the upcoming Antique & Modern Jewellery auction taking place on Thursday 13th June, 11am.

Emeralds

First found in Egypt over 4000 years ago, Emeralds were treasured by the Romans and worn by Cleopatra herself. Emeralds with few or no inclusions are so rare that they can actually be more expensive than diamonds, making both a  striking and rare stone for an engagement ring.

Tanzanites

Introduced to the world by Tiffany’s New York, this gorgeous gemstone is found in only one place in the world – the foothills of Mount Kilamanjaro in Tanzania. Its striking blue-violet colour is perfect for a unique engagement ring.

Sapphires

Representing truth and loyalty, sapphires make the ultimate luxurious diamond alternative, and have often been seen as the gem of royalty. The most famous sapphire engagement ring in the world is, of course, Kate Middleton’s (passed down from Princess Diana via Prince William). Fellows offers a very similar (albeit more modest) ring in the upcoming auction.
