One of the key pieces to feature in this sale was lot 28 – a bi-metal Corum chronograph bracelet watch. Designed with a silvered dial and textured centre, this stylish wrist watch sold for its top estimate at £1,500.
The Porsche Design watches were also a firm favourite with bidders. Lots 104, 105 and 106 exceeded their auction estimates with a combined hammer price of £2,200.
The Rolex section of the catalogue never fails to draw interest. Lot 132 in particular caused quite a stir in the saleroom. Estimated at £900 - £1,200, this lady’s bi-metal automatic Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust bracelet watch, circa 1993 sold for £1,600 under the hammer.
Lot 179 was certainly a time piece with a difference. The stainless steel quartz wrist watch by Quinting with mystery dial enchanted bidders in the saleroom and online. Classic mystery watches show the time without hands, instead using markers on rotating disks. Only a rare few mystery watches go the whole way and become completely transparent. To show the time with no visible movement can seem almost magical. Estimated at £240 - £340, this captivating piece sold for £800.
