Fellows to Auction a Pocketful of Time

Amongst the many highlights is an 18k gold keyless wind full hunter Grande Sonnerie repeater pocket watch by Courvoiser Freres. The piece is designed with a silvered dial with gilt floral decoration to the centre, bordered by a minute track with outer embellishment. The detailed pocket watch is featured as lot 1 with an auction estimate of £5,000 - £8,000.

Lot 26 – a George I silver key wind pair case pocket watch signed Etherington, London - is another item likely to catch the attention of bidders. The piece features Roman numeral hour markers alternating with diamond form markers and has been estimated at £500 - £700.

The major brands are also accounted for, with lots by Rolex, Omega and Patek, Philippe & Cie to name but a few. Lot 226 - an early 20th century continental white metal Hydrographic Service issue deck watch by Vacheron & Constantin, complete with its outer safety case – is certain to be a popular choice with bidders. With an estimate of £1,200-1,800, this lot is an exemplar of a high end maker creating a more utilitarian “tool” piece. But on opening the watch, the standards of finish are everything one would expect from such a prestige brand.
