A late Victorian gold, diamond, pearl and porcelain putti brooch.

Condition Report

A late Victorian gold, diamond and gem-set brooch. The oval ceramic panel, depicting two putti holding a floral garland, with pearl, split pearl and diamond foliate surround. Length 4.5cms. Total weight 17.1gms. Pearls untested.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Ceramic panel has a small chip at the edge near the bottom. General surface scratches and minor nicks, few slightly deeper scratches.
  • Repairs visible to the reverse of the central panel mount, possible alterations.
  • Replacement fittings.
  • Most pearls appear replacements, drilled.
  • Pearls untested for natural origin.
  • One pearl with area of significant nacre loss.
  • Three split pearls deficient.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Estimated total diamond weight under 0.05ct.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.
