HEUER - a very rare gentleman's Skipper "Skipperera" stainless steel chronograph bracelet watch.

Description

Condition Report

HEUER - a very rare gentleman's Skipper "Skipperera" chronograph bracelet watch. Stainless steel case. Reference 7753, serial 105919. Signed manual wind Valjoux calibre 7730. Blue dial with baton hour markers, coloured subsidiary recorder dial to three and nine. Fitted to an unsigned stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp. 36mm. The Skipper was created to mark the victory of the yacht Intrepid which won the Americas Cup in 1967. Heuer provided the timing equipment for this winning yacht. This was an entirely new chronograph model for Heuer and used brightly coloured subsidiary dials. Research suggested that the green for the subsidiary seconds dial matched the colour of the Intrepid's deck, with this colour having been originally chosen because of its anti-reflective properties. The watch has earnt the nickname 'Skipperera' as it was the only Skipper model to use the Carrera case. It was also the only Skipper model produced not to feature a calibrated bezel. It is estimated that this model was in production for just 1 year and was made in very limited numbers, some suggest that the number made could be as low as just 20!!
