In person
To bid in the auction room, you must bring in a form of photo ID and we will then give you a paddle number. Once the auction has started the auctioneer will announce bids. If you wish to bid on an item please raise your paddle.

If there is no one else bidding against you, the auctioneer will then bring down the gavel. You will then need to raise your paddle to show the auctioneer your paddle number.

There are also several ways to bid for an item at auction if you are unable to attend in person.

Absentee Bid
You can leave a bid online requesting Fellows to bid on your behalf up to the maximum amount you have assigned to each lot.
Commission bidding forms are also available to pick up at pre-auction viewings and are printed at the back of our catalogues.

Telephone Bid
We can also arrange for you to bid by telephone. We will contact you approximately 10 lots before the lot you will be bidding on. The operator will relay the auctioneer’s bids in the room and when no one else is bidding in the room, the operator will ask if you wish to bid and will keep you informed if the bid is with or against you.

Please call 0121 212 2131 to arrange a telephone line. You must arrange this by 4pm the day before the auction.
If you have won the item, an invoice will be sent to you shortly after the auction. It can also be found in your ‘My Fellows’ account on our website.

Online Bid
You can bid online from the comfort of your home. Fellows offer a live audio and video feed which allows you to participate in the auction without being there. Should you wish to bid live you will need to register on www.the-saleroom.com/fellows. Once you have completed the online form your details will be saved so that you need only enter your email and password to bid live in any further auctions.

Please note there is a separate registration form for this service and you will not be able to access your invoice in ‘My Fellows’. Registration on the-saleroom site will ask for your card details and payment for any items won in the auction will be automatically taken off this card.
Buyers will pay a live bidding charge of 3% of the hammer price if lots are successfully purchased online. Normal buyers premium apply.
