Auction Results: Pocket Watches & Accessories

 

 

 

 

On Monday 14th May Fellows held their quarterly auction of Pocket Watches & Accessories featuring over 250 lots.

 

Lot 1 was a particular item of interest amongst bidders. The 18ct gold keyless wind full hunter Grande Sonnerie repeater pocket watch by Courvoisier Freres sold for £5,600 under the hammer.

 

Another highly anticipated lot was number 26 – a George I silver key wind pair case watch signed Etherington, London. Estimated at £500 - £700, this interesting timepiece sold for £2,100.

 

20th century pocket watches were also popular on the day. Lot 153 – an 18ct gold keyless wind Double Eagle gold coin watch by Vacheron & Constantin sold for over six times its lowest estimate at £3,300.

 

Another piece by Vacheron & Constantin also did particularly well. The early 20th century continental white metal keyless wind open face Hydrographic Service issue deck watch (lot 226) was estimated at £1,200 - £1,800 and reached an impressive £2,600 hammer price.

 

The stopwatches section was also full of surprises. Many sold for over double their highest estimates with lot 229 – an Omega base metal keyless wind open face split seconds timer - fetching £220.
