Military Pocket Watch

In 1943 the Kriegsmarine approached the International Watch Company of Schaffhausen to supply a quantity of second class rated deck watches. In the event only about 300 of these were obtained from IWC, and each one was allocated to a U-boat. The dial is fully signed by the manufacturer and marked with the KM property stamp. The reverse is marked with the Kreigsmarine eagle and swastika over an M-prefixed issue number. Despite their second class rating these watches performed admirably as they had to: given the high speed of the craft on which they were habitually used.
