Lot 359

Lot Description

A late Victorian silver scent bottle, the cylindrical form embossed with scrolling foliage in between diagonal lobed panels, with conforming decoration to the hinged lid and glass stopper to the interior.  Hallmarked Chester 1895 with maker's mark W.A.  Height measuring 55mm.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The scent bottle displays general wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  There is also some tarnishing.  There are two large dents to the top of the hinged lid and various other minor nicks/dints in the metal all over.  The embossed decoration is in fairly good condition and the hinge is in working order.  The gilding to the interior has worn and the glass stopper has some minor edge nicks.  It also appears to be jammed in the bottle.  The full set and part set of hallmarks are very clear.  There is a further part set of hallmarks to the interior of the lid, which are more difficult to read.
