Lot Description

Eighteenth century Masonic back silver teaspoon, extremely rubbed. Together with a pair of George II silver teaspoons with shell backs and made by Richard Gosling and three further eighteenth century floral back teaspoons, extremely rubbed. Gross weight 2.2 ozt (69.5 grams). (6).

All spoons display general scratches marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. All of the teaspoons have engraved initials, the first Masonic back example also engraved with a crest. The picture backs on all apart from the pair of shell backs are extremely rubbed, almost completely in some cases. Part hallmarks just about legible to some, mostly the lion passant and maker's mark.
