Lot Description

A late Victorian silver mounted box, the oblong form entirely embossed with chrysanthemums amidst scrolls and scale-work, central vacant cartouche and wooden lined interior and base. Hallmarked A & J Zimmerman Ltd (Arthur & John Zimmerman), Birmingham 1897. Length measuring 9 inches (23 cm).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some rubbing with a little loss of definition. Minor dints and bumps. Wood likely to be a later replacement. No personal engravings. Hallmarks a little rubbed but clearly legible.
