Lot 404

Lot Description

A mid-Victorian silver presentation trophy goblet, ornately embossed with floral and fruit motifs within scrolled borders, engraved to one cartouche 'Northern Team Scratch Cup', having a beaded and knopped stem to a circular spread base with further floral embossing. Hallmarked Thomas Smily, London 1866. Height measures 9 1/2 inches (24.2 cm), weight 15.92 ozt (495 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Total lot weight: No

The goblet displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Heavier staining and tarnishing to the interior and would benefit from a polish throughout. Some small dints and bumps and the rim is slightly misshapen. The hallmarks appear rubbed and maker's mark a little distorted but all still legible.
