Lot Description

A pair of late Victorian silver candlesticks, each with filled circular base rising to a knopped tapering stem and vase shape socket and having reeded border decoration throughout. Hallmarked Hawksworth, Eyre & Co Ltd., Sheffield 1897. Height measuring 11 inches (28 cm).

Both candlesticks display some general wear, tarnishing, surface marks and scratches commensurate with age and use. A few small dints and surface nicks around the base rims. A couple of further small dints to both. Residues of wax to sockets. One candlestick feels slightly heavier than the other. No lining to bases. Hallmarks are clear and legible, maker's marks a little distorted but still legible.
