Lot Description

A George III Irish silver sauce boat, the oval body embossed with a figurative rural scene, punch-work rim, crested medallion, scrolling handle and standing on three shell mounted hoof feet. Hallmarked Matthew West, Dublin 1785. Maximum height measuring 4 1/4 inches (10.5 cm), weight 5.8 ozt (183 grams).

Condition Report

The sauce boat displays some general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing. Solder repairs to the rim and join of the handle. Hallmarks a little rubbed but clearly legible. Some rubbing with loss of definition.
