Full Lot Description
A pair of late Victorian silver scallop shell butter dishes, each with engraved crest and raised on three conch shell feet, hallmarked Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co., Sheffield 1888, maximum length 12cm. Together with a modern silver trencher salt and shovel salt spoon, hallmarked Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd., London 1978 and 1979. Total weight 8.37ozt (260.4g).

Condition Report
- Pair of shell dishes displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use.
- With some minor surface nicks, including around edges.
- One dish with very slight rim split on one side, at the start of the scalloped detail; this same dish also with slight impression from one of the feet.
- Hallmarks to both dishes clear and legible, and with maker's name and address impressed below.
- Trencher salt appears in good overall condition showing some light surface wear, marks and scratches; hallmarks clear and legible.
- Spoon with a slight crack and possible repair at the base of the stem; hallmarks a little distorted in parts but still legible.
