Full Lot Description

Two matched George III silver table spoons, in Old English pattern, both with later engraved decoration depicting a peacock amongst flowers and foliage to each bowl, and further floral motifs to the handles. Hallmarked Richard Crossley, London 1792, and John & Henry Lias, London 1819. Length 23cm, weight 4.07ozt (126.6g).

  • Both spoons appear in good overall condition
  • Displaying some general light surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use
  • Some light surface wear and rubbing to areas of the engraved decoration but overall it is in good condition and has retained much brightness
  • Bowls have also faired well
  • The handle of the 1819 spoon appears a little flattened and there is a very slight kink; on the same spoon there are traces of a sticker and other dark marks to the reverse of the bowl
  • Hallmarks located to the reverse of each terminal, punches are a little blackened and the duty mark on the 1782 spoon is rubbed, but other marks all clearly legible
  • Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition
