Fellows’ October Antique & Modern Jewellery sale features many beautiful pieces of animal jewellery. Many fabulous brooches depicting numerous animals feature, including kangaroos, spiders, and squirrels. Lot 39 is a 1970s 9ct gold squirrel brooch, by Alabaster & Wilson, estimated at £120-£180. The squirrel can be seen clutching a seed pearl, sitting atop a textured branch. Lot 12 is an enamel fish and rod bar brooch, of fishing interest, designed as a stylised bamboo rod, with a seed pearl accent reel and enamel trout. The brooch is estimated at £180 – £260. Staying on the topic of animal brooches is Lot 42, an early 20th century gold and silver gem-set butterfly brooch. The split pearl and opal body, with green gem eyes, to the diamond, ruby, sapphire and opal wings. For the pooch lovers among you, we have two alluring brooches in the shape of dogs in this sale. Lot 95, estimated at £750-£950, is a diamond dog brooch and Lot 60 is a dog brooch with rose-cut diamond eyes, estimated at £300-£400. Fellows’ October Vintage Jewellery & Accessories sale features many beautiful historic lots. Lot 4 is a stunning Napoleon III memorial ring.  Napoleon III was Emperor of the French from 2 December 1852 – 4 September 1870. The rings were made from brass and given out to commemorate his death. Lot 4 – A Napoleon III memorial ring. Estimate: £80-£120   Lot 32 is a mid to late Victorian hand painted and enamel hinged pendant. The white symbolises innocence, often used for the young or unmarried. The lamb is often used for children too. As this one in particular is being crowned it is probably representing Jesus, whereas the lady in the blue is the Madonna. The hair work in the back is in the shape of a wheat sheaf, often used in an allegorical context i.e. wheat is reaped, just as the souls of the dead will be on judgement day / at death. Fellows’ upcoming Antique & Modern Jewellery sale features a fantastic range of designer pieces but also examples of historic sentimental jewellery. Lot 17 – A late Georgian sentimental gold, enamel, ruby and crystal heart locket pendant. Estimate: £300 – £400 Lot 17 from the sale is a late Georgian sentimental gold, enamel, ruby and crystal heart locket pendant, one of the standout items from the auction. The lot is only one of the many jewellery pieces to have featured throughout jewellery auctions at Fellows which has sentimental meaning. The sentimental pieces are hugely popular amongst jewellery lovers. Lot 17 is a stunning rock crystal heart locket, with ruby and enamel bowl surmount and the motto ‘Amour Sans Fin’ features – which translates to ‘Endless Love,’ or ‘Never Ending Love’ in English.
