Fellows’ Vintage Jewellery & Accessories sales always include a host of fascinating items, and December’s auction is no exception. Inspect the insect from Monday’s sale with numerous stunning amber inclusions. There are some many amber items which feature fascinating critters which were preserved in amber around 35 million years ago. The amber pieces are amongst the most exciting pieces in the Vintage auction, and they are sure to be popular under the hammer. The inclusions range from a diverse variety of insects, including wasps and flies.
Lot 339 is a piece of natural Baltic amber with ant inclusion. The polished piece of amber measures 2.4 by 4cms. This item is estimated at £40 – £60.
Lot 342 in the sale is a piece of natural Dominican Republic amber with wasp inclusion. The item is of a rough oval cabochon outline, polished, with a wasp inclusion to the centre. The amber measures 1.7 by 1.3cms. This item is estimated at £40 – £60.
Lot 352 includes another fascinating insect inclusion. The item is a piece of natural Dominican Republic amber with praying mantis inclusion. The polished piece of amber measures 1.6 by 2.6cms. This item is estimated at £80 – £120.
There are many other interesting pieces of amber with insect inclusions included in our upcoming Vintage sale too. There is a necklace which includes a female fungus gnat inclusion and a male midge inclusion, as well as a natural Baltic amber pendant with coddis fly inclusion. The selection of amber items in the sale really is to be admired, with over appealing items which are perfect in time for the Christmas season.
