1999 saw the launch of the Daniels-designed Co-Axial Escapement within Omega’s De Ville collection. To celebrate the launch limited edition watches were produced, 1000 in gold and 100 in platinum. In London a launch party was held at Watches of Switzerland, Bond Street at which George Daniels was present. One quick-thinking purchaser took the opportunity to get George Daniels to sign the strap, authenticity certificate and warranty card of their watch – something that he quickly stopped doing once he saw how many people wanted this service.

While it may not bear his name as a maker, this signature makes what is a special watch that little bit rarer.
