Condition Report
An impressive Victorian table centre piece presented to Thomas Leverton Donaldson by the Royal Institute of British Architects. The four branch candelabrum is decorated with acanthus leaf and trailing vine leading to a tapering Corinthian column terminating in a leaf motif above a triform base with panel sides bearing the RIBA badge, the presentation inscription (see below), and another shield possibly for a descendant of Donaldson of Bannachra. The triform base is supported on pierced scrolling acanthus feet. The central candle nozzle unscrews to permit the fitting of a cut glass fruit bowl with dagger tooth rim- 10.75ins (27.5cms) diameter. London 1839. Maker B Smith. Weight 157ozt (4879gms). Height 27.5ins ((70.5cms). Presentation inscription reads : 'From his professional brethren embers of the Royal Institute of British Architects to Thos Leverton Donaldson on his retirement from the office of Honorary Secretary & tribute of personal esteem and an acknowledgment of his efficient and constant services towards establishing the institute and in promoting its welfare. July MDCCCXXXlX'.

Purchasing information-
In very good condition with general scratches, marks and surface tarnishing in keeping with the age and use. There are a couple of slight splits to the silver in areas of detail, however this is only noticeable on very close inspection. The hallmarks are clear and legible. The glass insert is in good condition with a few small nibbles to the edges, but again only noticeable under close inspection.
