Condition Report

An early 20th century 18ct gold opal and diamond ring. The graduated oval opal cabochons, with old-cut diamond double spacers, to the openwork gallery and plain band. Estimated total diamond weight 0.20ct. Hallmarks partially rubbed. Weight 2.6gms.

Purchasing information
    Overall condition good. Some surface wear and discolouration in keeping with age. Evidence of resizing and repair. Gemstones fairly well matched. Opals translucent, play-of-colour from red through to violet. Opals in fair condition with surface abrasion. Please see Important Notices for Purchasers in our catalogue for coloured gemstones. Diamonds fairly bright and well matched. Individual size prevents accurate colour/clarity assessment. Scattered to significant and large inclusions, some of which are surface reaching and visible to the unaided eye. Diamonds in fair to good condition, some with minor abrasion, some with nibbles and nicks. Ring size M1/2. Two sets of partial hallmarks, one to the shoulder, one to the back of the band.
