Condition Report

A mid 20th century gold opal and diamond dress ring. The oval opal cabochon, to the single-cut diamond stepped sides and plain band. Approximate dimensions of opal: 17 by 13.4 by 7.8mms. Estimated diamond weight 0.35ct. Weight 6.6gms.

Purchasing information
    Overall condition good to fair. Surface scratches and discolouration in keeping with general wear and age. The opal is white in tone with good play of colour showing predominately greens and blues, there is a surface reaching fracture with associated chip, which could affect durability. The diamonds are bright, lively and fairly well matched. One diamond has a dark coloured inclusions visible through the table, some have dark coloured inclusions only visible with magnification, some have no obvious inclusions under magnification. Individual size and setting prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. The inside of the band has a resizing spring which is stamped 750. Ring size approximately O.
