A George III pair of silver open salts.

Condition Report

A George III pair of silver open salts, the oblong form with silver-gilt interiors, applied rims cornered with foliate mounted shells, crested and standing on a conforming oblong foot with foliate border. Hallmarked London 1812 with the maker's mark T.R, tentatively attributed to Thomas Radcliffe. Height measuring 1 3/4 inches (4.5 cm), gross weight 7.3 ozt (230 grams).

Purchasing information
    The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Gilding to the interiors is worn and the inner bowls also display heavy scratch marks. Solder visible to the underside and the joins of the foot. Hallmarks a little rubbed but clearly legible.
