Condition Report

An early 20th century gold diamond necklace. The old-cut diamond, within a kite-shape surround, to the old-cut diamond collet and knife-edge bar surmount, suspended from a replacement fancy-link chain. Estimated total diamond weight 0.50ct. Length 42cms. Weight 3.9gms.

    Overall condition fair to good. Minor surface wear in keeping with age/general wear. Principal diamond is a possible replacement, evidence of repair/alteration to the setting. Diamonds fairly bright and fairly well matched. Principal diamond estimated 0.30ct, tinted colour, P1 clarity. Assessed within the limits of the mount. Brown hue, with a significant surface reaching inclusion visible to the unaided eye. Principal diamond in fair condition with significant nicks associated with the surface reaching inclusion. Smaller diamonds also with brownish/yellowish hues. Large inclusions visible to the unaided eye. Individual size prevents accurate colour/clarity assessment. Smaller diamonds in good condition with some abrasion. Length of pendent component 3.8cms.
