Description

Condition Report

A large Victorian silver jug of baluster form, with a moulded and shaped rim above an ornately decorated body depicting birds amidst floral and foliate scrolls, the handle with ivory insulators, further leaf moulding and a 'jester' mask terminal. Hallmarked Robert Hennell III, London 1851. Height including handle measures 11 inches (28cm), gross weight 26.14 ozt (813 grams).

Please note: When placing absentee bids, your bids will be rounded up to the nearest bid increment. For more information click the 'Important Notices for Purchasers' button above.

Purchasing information
The jug is in fairly poor condition. It displays general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use and also heavy tarnishing throughout. There are a number of very large dents and knocks to the main body and also to the foot rim. There is some damage to the fixing pins on the handle and some are missing, so that the middle section and insulators are now loose. The hallmarks are located to the underside and are clear and legible, also corresponding part hallmarks to the handle.
