Condition Report

A mid 20th century gold ruby and diamond cluster bar brooch. The circular-shape ruby, within an old-cut diamond surround, to the plain bar. Estimated total diamond weight 0.45ct. Length 5.5cms. Weight 3.9gms.

Purchasing information
    Overall condition fair. Surface scratches in keeping with general wear. The brooch was originally a ring, with visible solder joins to both sides of the cluster where the bar has been added. There are some areas of tarnishing in places. The ruby is pinkish red, there are areas of visible angular colour zoning and cloudy translucent patches. The ruby is extremely shallow with visible windowing. Estimated dimensions 5.6 by 5.65 by 1.95mms. Significant abrasion to the facet edges and scratches to facet faces. The diamonds are fairly bright, there are some easily visible dark and light inclusions to some, chips to some visible with magnification, Individual size and setting prevents accurate colour/clarity grade assessment.
