Condition Report

A George III gold split pearl memorial ring. The marquise-shape painted panel, depicting a woman attending a tomb, within a split pearl surround, to the engraved band reading 'Mary Ferguson ob 26th Jan 1802, AE 59'. Weight 7.9gms.

Purchasing information
    Overall condition good to fair. Surface scratches and discolouration in keeping with general wear and age. Possibly assembled from similarly aged components. Evidence of soft solder alteration or repair. Sizing marks to the band. The painted panel is faded, and cracked, the reverse has a vacant unglazed opening. The split pearls are fairly well matched, with a silvery or creamy white colour, some discoloured due to age. Approximate ring size U. Split pearls untested for natural origin.
