Condition Report

Two mid 19th century memorial gem-set brooches and a stickpin. To include a hair panel and split pearl brooch, a black gem brooch with central vacant panel, together with a 15ct gold split pearl and ruby crescent stick-pin. Two split pearls deficient. Length of brooches 2.4 and 1.8cms. Length of stickpin 6cms. Weight of stickpin 1.3gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair. Surface wear, light scratches, discolouration and light dents in keeping with general age and wear.

  • Replacement brooch fittings, some soft solder.

  • Hair panel is not arranged, with debris.

  • Split pearls vary in hue, orangish-yellow, greenish-yellow through to creamy and grey. Two deficient. Fair to poor skins with surface blemishes and chips.

  • Second has central panel deficient. One replacement black-gem.

  • Black gems in fair condition with noticeable abrasion and nibbles.

  • Stickpin stamped 15ct. Rubies pinkish-red. Fair to good condition, one with a significant nick.

  • Total weight of brooches 5.8gms.
