Condition Report

A late 19th century gold amethyst and split pearl sentimental brooch. The split pearl star, atop a circular amethyst cabochon, within a split pearl and stepped surround, to the vacant panel reverse. Diameter 3.6cms. Weight 18.3gms.

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface wear, light scratches and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

  • Amethyst is a possible replacement, foil-back. Medium to deep purple, well saturated, fairly good clarity with typical inclusions.

  • Amethyst in good condition with minor abrasions.

  • Split pearls well matched, creamy white. Fairly good skins with some surface blemishes, fairly good lustre.
