Condition Report

A late 19th century 9ct gold garnet memorial brooch. The oval garnet cabochon, within an openwork stylised knot surround, to the vacant panel reverse. May be worn as a pendant. Length 6.1cms. Weight 14.7gms.

    Overall condition fair to good. Some surface wear and minor discolouration in keeping with age and general wear. Replacement pin. Suspension loop and wire loop possibly later added. Later added safety chain. Several dents, mainly located to the reverse. Some scratches to the glazed panel. Garnet purplish-red, closed-back setting. Fairly good clarity with typical inclusions.
