Description

Condition Report

A pair of George III silver candlesticks, each with a loaded square base having gadroon borders enclosing foliate motifs and rising to a slightly tapering, fluted column with a pierced Corinthian capital (missing nozzle), engraved bird crest at the base of each column. Hallmarked Emick Romer, London 1762. Height measures 12 1/2 inches (31.7 cm).

Please note: When placing absentee bids, your bids will be rounded up to the nearest bid increment. For more information click the 'Important Notices for Purchasers' button above.

Purchasing information
Both candlesticks display general wear including surface scratching, marks and surface dints and nicks, all commensurate with the age and use. Some quite heavy tarnishing visible to both and they would benefit from a clean and polish. Slight damage to pierced capital on one of the candlesticks, a small section of a flower is missing. This same candlestick has an area of heavier dints to the base. Both with crudely engraved initials around the base rims. The hallmarks are clear and legible, slight distortion to maker's mark but still legible.
