Condition Report

A late 19th century gold garnet and gem brooch. The foil-back circular-shape garnet and colourless-gem curved line, to the textured fan surmount, suspending three foil-back pear-shape garnet drops. Length 4.3cms. Weight 6.9gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair. Surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • There are areas of significant discolouration in places. There are some areas of greening and dents to some areas of detail.
  • Garnets pinkish purple, with a good saturation of colour. Typical inclusions visible with magnification.
  • Foil backing possibly effecting the saturation of colour.
  • The garnets and colourless gems are in good condition, slight abrasion visible with magnification.
  • Some of the gemstones are possibly loose within the setting, some claws are damaged and would need to be secured.
