Condition Report

An early 20th century split pearl, cultured pearl and gem-set portrait pendant. The oval-shape enamel allegorical portrait of a young woman and dead bird, within a split pearl, foil-back garnet and green gem floral surround, suspending a cultured pearl. May be worn as a brooch. Length 5.1cms. Weight 10.8gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good to fair. Surface scratches and minor discolouration in keeping with general wear and age.

  • Foil-back garnet fairly well matched.

  • Foil-back garnet medium dark purplish-red, well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Gems in good to fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.

  • Split pearls vary in shape size and colour.

  • Split pearls mostly silvery light and silvery dark colours.

  • Some split pearls show some obvious blemishes.

  • Diamonds in good condition with minor abrasions.
