Two mid Victorian memorial brooches.

Description

Condition Report

Two mid Victorian memorial brooches. The larger designed as a rectangular vacant glazed panel to the 'In memory of' black and gold enamel lettering and scrolling surround with inscription to the reverse, together with a small brooch, adapted from another piece of jewellery with woven hair panel to the front. Lengths 1.2 to 3.7cms.

Please note: When placing absentee bids, your bids will be rounded up to the nearest bid increment. For more information click the 'Important Notices for Purchasers' button above.

Purchasing information
The condition of this lot is fair to poor. The larger brooch has significant areas of worn or deficient enamel. The reverse is significantly dented. The inscription reads 'Hannah Stowe Died April 7 1851 aged 85 years'. The pin catch is misshapen, preventing the pin from being released. There is a hole to one side of the smaller brooch, consistent with it having being adapted from a push-piece clasp. The pin has been added at a later date.
