Lot 29

A provincial Irish silver sauce boat.

Description

Condition Report

A provincial Irish silver sauce boat, the crested oval body with scalloped rim, scrolling handle and shell mounted hoof feet. Struck twice with the maker's mark IB, probably for Jonathan Buck, Limerick and Cork. Height measuring 3 1/2 inches (9 cm), weight 4.5 ozt (140 grams).

Please note: When placing absentee bids, your bids will be rounded up to the nearest bid increment. For more information click the 'Important Notices for Purchasers' button above.

Purchasing information
The sauce boat appears in a tarnished state and would benefit from a clean and polish. There is some general wear, surface scratches, nicks and marks. General dints and bumps throughout. Floods of solder visible around the join of the top of the handle to the rim so likely repairs in this area. Both maker's marks are rubbed and partly distorted.
