Condition Report

An early 20th century 9ct gold amethyst and split pearl swallow brooch. The split pearl swallow, suspending a pear-shape amethyst collet, to the bead and double circle surround. Diameter 2.5cms. Weight 2gms.

  • Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Base metal replacement pin.
  • One split pearl deficient.

  • Some split pearls possible/ likely replacement.

  • Split pearls white and slightly creamy-white, fair to muted lustre, with surface blemishes.

  • Amethyst medium purple, fairly well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions, with small white inclusions that can be seen with the naked eye.

  • Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.

  • Stamped 9ct.
