An early 20th century Russian gold diamond and gem-set stag beetle brooch. The garnet cabochon and rose-cut diamond abdomen, with synthetic ruby and old-cut diamond cluster thorax, ruby eyes and vari-cut diamond mandibles supporting a glass bead, flanked by realistic legs. Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 0.30ct. Various marks including the 56 zolotnik mark for St. Petersburg. Length 5.3cms. Weight 13.7gms.

Purchasing information- Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
- Replacement gems including white glass bead and circular-shape synthetic ruby.
- Glue visible.
- Garnet slightly loose within the mount.
- Some feet with minor losses and small dents.
- Diamonds well matched.
- Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.
- Some small chips, some minor abrasion.
- Stones mostly in good condition with minor abrasions. Synthetic ruby with deep scratch to pavillion facet.
