A garnet and split pearl mourning brooch. The rectangular-shape vacant panel, within a split pearl and foil-back circular-shape garnet surround. Length 2.5cms. Weight 3.5gms

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair. Surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • The brooch appears to have been put together from various components, visible join marks to the surround.
  • Visible blisters and blemishes to the split pearls.
  • Stamped 9ct to reverse.
  • Conchoidal fracture visible to one garnet, slight abrasion to the others.
  • The garnets vary in colour, some more brown and others more purple, typical inclusions visible with magnification.

  • garnets medium to pale purplish pink, well saturated, with moderate clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.
