A late Victorian silver mounted glass claret jug.

Condition Report

A late Victorian silver mounted and cut glass claret jug, the hobnail cut ovoid shape body rising to a plain silver collar with flat hinged lid and angular handle. Hallmarked John Grinsell & Sons, Birmingham 1891. Maximum height measures 7 7/8 inches (20 cm).

Purchasing information
    The claret jug appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general wear, surface marks and scratches in keeping with the age and use. Tarnishing to the silver mounts. Minor nicks/dints around the edge of the spout, also near to hinge. Hinged lid in good working order. Various small edge chips and nibbles to the glass. The hallmarks are clear and legible, also part hallmarks to lid. Maker's mark a little rubbed but still legible.
