Condition Report

Two mid Victorian mourning brooches and a pair of diamond mourning panels. The panels each designed as a marquise-shape glazed hair panel within a rose-cut diamond surround, the brooches designed as an oval glazed panel with scrolling foliate engraved belt surround, together with a foliate embossed brooch mount. Length of brooches 2.3 and 3cms. Length of panels 1.6 and 1.7cms. Weight 12gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Individual size and cut of diamonds prevents accurate weight, colour and clarity assessment.

  • One panel with small circular hole to reverse, both with deep scratches and scuffs.
  • Belt motif brooch engraved to reverse 'Fanny, March 17, 1859'. Noticeable dents to the reverse.
  • Small line of discolouration, possible repaired split.
  • Brooch mount with central section deficient.
  • Few small wear holes to some of the floral sections.
  • Base metal pin, some heavier scratches through the gilt finish to the reverse.
