Four items of mid to late 19th century jet and vulcanite jewellery.

Condition Report

A selection of four items of mid to late 19th century jet and vulcanite mourning jewellery. To include an 1870s hair panel and jet brooch, a vulcanite hand brooch, a vulcanite locket with Jewish sentiment, together with a vulcanite cross and wreath pendant. Length of brooches 5.6cms each. Length of pendants 6.2 and 7.5cms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Vulcanite with crazing, some cracks and discolouration.
  • Locket with scrolling banner and foliate decoration, stamped 'Shalom'.
  • Chips and crack at the hinge of the locket.
  • Memorial brooch engraved 'In memory of M.A.C., died August 8 1872.' Base metal reverse, discolouration at fittings.
  • Hair with discolouration/dirt and some mould visible.
