Condition Report

An early 20th century 18ct gold opal and diamond cluster ring. The opal cabochon, measuring 8.5 by 7 by 4.5mms, within an old-cut diamond surround, with a tapered band. Estimated total diamond weight 0.85ct. Ring size N. Weight 3.6gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

  • Some wear to the settings, some claws require attention.

  • Opal slightly loose in the setting.

  • Opal white body colour, with fair to good play-of-colour showing a range of colours, with predominately green hues.

  • Opal in fair to poor condition, with significant abrasion affecting the surface polish and play-of-colour.

  • Diamonds fairly well matched.

  • Diamonds vary slightly in size and shape.

  • Diamonds bright.

  • Diamonds show light and dark coloured inclsuions some of which can only be seen with some difficulty under magnification
  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Diamonds in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.

  • Stamped 18ct.
