A mid 19th century iron and gold diamond brooch.

Condition Report

A mid 19th century iron and gold, diamond brooch. Of openwork design, the iron lattice half-circle and scrolling foliate surround, with old and rose-cut diamond bud and scrolling line highlights. Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 0.20ct. Length 2.9cms.

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Diamonds fairly well matched.
  • Diamonds fairly bright.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.

  • Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation.
