A mid Victorian enamel and split pearl mourning brooch. Designed as an oval shape, the black enamel border reading 'In Memory Of' in gold-tone script to the central glazed woven hair panel with split pearl surround and scrollwork mount, with personal inscription to the reverse. Length 4.2cms. Weight 14.9gms.

Purchasing information-
The condition of this lot is fair. The metal, glass and split pearls all have surface signs of wear, consistent with age. The glass has cracked to one side of the panel. the enamel has chips and scratches. The inscription to the reverse reads 'Sarah Elizabeth Hunter Obt 25th Jan 1839 At 16. Sophia Harriet Hunter Obt 27th Jan 1846 At 21.' Condition reports are provided as a guide only and we recommend you inspect each lot in order to satisfy yourself as to their condition.
